A pretty shade of purple
I’m half way through my big long weekend of snowboarding, trying to get ready for my Cert 2 exam in April. So far the snow has been pretty decent and the weather has been nice (though I got a bit too much sun yesterday). I got some good practice and studying in yesterday at Loveland working on lesson plans and progressions for short radius turns on the steeps.
Today was supposed to be the light day, just taking it easy and making some turns up at Arapahoe Basin, and checking out the new Montezuma bowl – I didn’t bother to put my pads on since the plan was to take it easy.
They’ve got a great terrain park at A-basin this year, looks like it’s all brand new rails and boxes, and they’re all set up just like I like ‘em, I couldn’t help eyeing them from the chairlift our first ride up. What could be the harm in just one quick run through the park?
Well there was this one kinked rail at the bottom of the park that is deceptively longer than it looked and I caught my shin pretty hard as I came off it because I didn’t quite clear the end. Now my lower left leg is turning a very pretty shade of purple, and I realized it wouldn’t look nearly as cool in a couple of days as it does now, so I took a picture:

I’ve still got two more days of hard riding this weekend. Yay pain-killers!
