Deadbug 2.0

I'm pleased to announce Deadbug 2.0 is now available, with support for Firebug 1.7 and Firefox 4.0.

When Firebug is turned completely off, Deadbug replaces the normal Firebug icon with an upside-down, 'dead' bug icon ( designed by Kara Rawson).  But Firefox 4.0 removed that status bar in favor of an add-on bar which is not visible by default.  So Firebug 1.7 (which supports Firefox 4.0) added a Firebug icon to the toolbar, which you can read more about on Honza's excellent blog.

The good news is that this new version will work with both the toolbar icon and add-on bar icon. You can download it here, or get the source from github here.

Ch-ch-changes

A few hiccups occurred as I attempted to upgrade this server from a years old FreeBSD 7.0 install (776 days uptime TYVM) directly to FreeBSD 8.1. Needless to say, it did not go so smoothly as I planned. But, on the plus side, after some hours of feverish hacking and installing and configuring, I am now typing this on a brand new Typo 6 blog running on Rails 3 with Postgres 9.0 and Passenger (don’t even care what version since it works). Shiny!

The most obvious change to note is that, since everything else was changing underneath, I decided I would change the theme as well.

Flaming hot 404

Here’s another good 404 error page that makes me laugh.  This one is part of the newly-redesigned getfirebug.com site, and features the all new Firebug logo.  You can probably find it by typing in any old garbage after the slash, but this link seems to work well: getfirebug.com/asdf
